Four of our members drove to Idaho to participate in the 2025 Nito Seminar, the first since Covid.
Although "nito" (two swords) kendo is not the typical path, it fits with the philosophies of our practice—that variation and variability lead to flexibility, and a consistency of result. There is no such thing as the same swing twice. So, no matter the situation, the opponent, or our own constraints, we should practice with variability in mind so that when a new situation arises (hint: all situations are new) we won't break—we will be antifragile—and we can find a way to get that ideal result of ippon using yukodatotsu.
Nito uses two swords, but it is the same as "regular" one sword kendo, because we are all aiming for the same results.
Otherwise, it's a highly recommended seminar. Very good, kind, and thoughtful sensei. The people who come out become your friends. And, the Idaho Kendo Club and all its members are wonderful hosts and put on a really great event.
